About Me

A graduate of Northwestern University and of Boston University's MFA Program in Fiction, I was a semi-finalist for a Fulbright in Creative Writing. My application was recommended by the U.S. Fulbright committee for a grant, and my project was endorsed by architecture professors at the University of Sydney and English professors at the University of New South Wales, in conjunction with their Center for Modernism. My story “Mousetrap” was a semi-finalist for the 2023 Sewanee Review Prize for Nonfiction. My short story “Pitchers of Milk, Now Empty” was a finalist for the 2021 Bayou Magazine James Knudsen Prize for Fiction. I teach courses in narrative writing, writing and the visual arts, and travel writing at the University of Colorado Boulder. I also teach for Lighthouse Writers' Workshop, for the international Eating Recovery Center, and for doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital as part of the CORAL Arts Program, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Individually, I also offer private instruction to clients to develop their manuscripts and find their voices.
